This is why I love SoCal livin':
I was bequeathed the most delicious avocado recently--my friend gave me an orange and an avocado from her friend's farm in Ojai--and I ate half the avocado for lunch today, dressed in nothing but Meyer lemon juice and a little pink Himalayan salt (the avocado, not me. That would be a different kind of post altogether.) It was so exquisitely delicious. There are few things in life better than a perfect avocado. I had lofty plans for it--I thought about tossing it in a salad with some citrus, or maybe adding some tomatoes. But there is no need to improve upon perfection, and it became immediately apparent that I was dealing with just that--green, creamy, perfection.
This vaguely reminds me of a line in "When Harry Met Sally" when a little old lady describes meeting her husband, saying something along the lines of "You just know. Like you know about a good melon."
What can I say, I can identify a perfect avocado with laser-like certainty. Good-melon kind of guy? Not so much. But I'm working on it.
Ahhhh...I love SoCal in the summer. The farmers' market alone is enough to bring me total happiness. Add in the boys, the bands, and the beach...and there you go--the BEST SUMMER EVER!
