Fava Bean Failure
Fava beans + me = EPIC FAIL
I got ambitious at my farmer's market on Sunday, and bought a bag of fava beans (with little to no knowledge of how to cook them.) I figured, how complicated could it be? They're beans. I'll boil them, toss them in olive oil and salt, and all will be well. Not so fast. After I boiled them, they became the most bitter, acrid, unappealing wads of mushy greenness. Unpalatable. In addition to being super labor-intensive (after you boil them you have the shell them--AGAIN. They get shelled twice. No joke.) They are my new least-favorite vegetable.
So I think this is the end of the road with me and fava beans. In the words of Lady Gaga, we have a bad romance.
